Officials Sought For 2018 Show Ski Worlds

The International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) has asked the National Show Ski Association (NSSA) to supply names for consideration to be an official at the 2018 Show Ski World Championships, Sept. 7-9, on Peninsula Lake at the Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville, Ontario, Canada.

The American Water Ski Association is currently seeking volunteer computer programmers to help maintain its tournament scores and rankings lists. The behind-the-scenes database platform is Microsoft SQL Server 2008.

Athlete Lists Released For Nautique Masters

The athlete lists for the 26th Nautique Junior Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament and 59th Nautique Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament, presented by GM Marine Engine Technology, have been announced. The Junior Masters will be held on May 25 and the Masters will take place May 26-27. Both tournaments are held at Callaway Gardens’ Robin Lake in Pine Mountain, Ga.

IWWF Plans Event Management System

The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) plans to implement an Event Management System (EMS) to facilitate and streamline event management processes. 2017 Award Recipients Announced

USA Water Ski and its nine sport discipline organizations are pleased to announce respective award recipients for 2017. Freddy Krueger (Winter Garden, Fla.) and Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) have been selected USA Water Ski’s 2017 Male Athlete of the Year and Female Athlete of the Year, respectively. The U.S. Elite Water Ski Team earned USA Water Ski’s 2017 Team of the Year honors. Dusty Schulz (Westlake Village, Calif.) was selected as the recipient of the Award of Merit – the organization’s highest award for a volunteer.

2018 Nautique Big Dawg Tour Schedule Set

Nautique, a Premier Sponsor of USA Water Ski, has announced the dates and locations for the 2018 Nautique Big Dawg World Tour, presented by O’Brien. As the premier tour for 34 mph slalom skiers across the globe who are over age 35, the Big Dawg World Tour is towed exclusively by the record-setting Ski Nautique 200. Each stop will include two rounds of 34 mph slalom action, followed by a bracketed 16-skier head-to-head finale. The tour will include four qualifying stops at premier water ski venues as the top slalom skiers battle it out for a spot in the Big Dawg World Tour Finals.

Ukraine To Host 2020 University Worlds

The FISU World University Championships Division has announced that its Executive Committee has attributed the organization of the 2020 World University Water Ski & Wakeboard Championships to Dnipro, Ukraine. This will be the first FISU World University Championships with a new format, which will include wakeboarding.

AWSA Releases Proposed Rules Changes

The American Water Ski Association’s Rules Committee has announced its proposed rules changes for 2018 following its annual meeting on Nov. 5. To view the proposed rules changes, click here (PDF). These are recommendations from council members and AWSA members, along with alignment items with International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation rules, as well as clean up items to the current rules that were missed or need to be revised.
